Alabama moves in front at Mason Rudolph Championship

Alabama leads No. 5 Florida by one and host No. 3 Vanderbilt by four shots with one round remaining

FRANKLIN, TN (April 1, 2017) -- For the second consecutive day Alabama has carded a season-low score and after 36-holes they have taken the lead at the Mason Rudolph Championship. The Crimson Tide (-18) will begin Sunday's final round one shot in front of first round leader No. 5 Florida (-17) and four shots in front of host and defending champion No. 3 Vanderbilt (-14). On day two at the Vanderbilt Legends Club Alabama, in search of their first win of the year, stormed into the lead with a 12-under day that was led by Josh Sedeno's second consecutive 3-under 68. Sedeno, a redshirt freshman is 6-under for the tournament and he is currently in line for his best collegiate finish. Currently in a three-way for first, Sedeno is yet to finish better than his tied for 29th showing at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate. In the second round Sedano birdied five-times and bogeyed twice. His best stretch of golf came when carded three consecutive birdies on Nos. 6-8. Besides Sedano there are three other Alabama players in the top-20; Lee Hodges (T4; -5), Davis Riley (T12; -3) and Jonathan Hardee (T18; -2). Joining Sedano in the lead are Florida teammates Sam Horsfield and Andy Zhang. Horsfield has combined rounds of 69-67 to reach 6-under. During the second round Horsfield rolled in six birdies while also bogeying twice. For Zhang it has been rounds of 69-67 as well and like Horsfield he carded six birdies and two bogeys in the second round. Zhang, who this week last year won the Azalea Invitational, birdied each of the last two holes. Along with Lee Hodges (Alabama), Patrick Flavin (Miami-OH), Mateusz Gradecki (East Tennessee State) and first round leader Theo Humphrey (Vanderbilt) are tied for fourth at 5-under. Overall 28 players are under-par and within shouting distance of the lead. The top-five in the team standings is rounded out by both Missouri; No. 25 Duke at 8-under.
