Alabama extends lead at Puerto Rico Classic

The Crimson Tide extended their lead to 13 after posting a 9-under-par 276 in the second round. Georgia Tech's James White leads the individual race at 136.

RIO MAR, Puerto Rico - On the strength of a team round of a 9-under-par 276, the Alabama men's golf team extended their lead to 13 strokes on Monday after the second round at the Puerto Rico Classic on the 6,902-yard, par-72 River Course at the Rio Mar Country Club. The Crimson Tide stands at 21-under-par 555 after 36 holes of play. Purdue moved from a tie for sixth into second place with a 9-under 276 on Monday. The Boilermakers are 8-under 568 for the tournament with Clemson in third at 7-under 569. Virginia Tech is fourth 1-under 575 while Georgia rounds out the top five at 1-over 577. James White of Georgia Tech now leads field at 136 after a blistering 6-under-par 66 in the second round. Alabama's Justin Thomas and Bobby Wyatt are tied for second at 138. Play continues tomorrow with the third and final round.
