AGC Christmas Classic: Hansen, McElyea declared co-Champions

After rain washes out the final round, Matt Hansen and Cory McElyea (69) are declared co-Champions

MONTEREY, Calif. (Dec. 2, 2012) -- When the second of two rain storms swept through the Monterey Peninsula, the only suspense was about whether any golf would be played.

Indeed, after an hour delay, the "heavy stuff" that only Bishop Pickering (Caddy Shack) could play through did in fact come down, forcing the amateurgolf.com staff to declare it an 18- hole event.

Matt Hansen and Cory McElyea each fired opening-round 3-under 69s to take the lead entering Sunday's final round and were declared co-champions.

McElyea, a junior at University of San Francisco, recorded four birdies in his round. Hansen, a sophomore at UC Davis, was able to keep up, though.

Pierre LaMothe, Sathvik Krishnamurthy
Alex Franklin and Keelan Kilpatrick shot 2-under 70 and tied for third.

Cody Blickensderfer, Andrew Morgan and Hunter Rappleye tied for fifth place entering after shooting 1-under 71.

Pierre LaMothe fired an even-par 72 to win the senior championship by one over Rob Adolph while Sathvik Krishnamurthy and Austin Steele tied atop the net division leaderboard.
