The site of two U.S. Women's Opens The Kahkwa Club is ready to host its third USGA event

ERIE, PA (September 6, 2016) -- The site of two U.S. Women's Opens The Kahkwa Club is ready to host its third USGA event this week when the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur tees off on Saturday. A Donald Ross designed course that opened in 1917, The Kahkwa Club plays at 6,125 yards and as a par-72 (36-36). The track first hosted a U.S. Women's Open in 1971 when JoAnne Gunderson Carner emerged victorious and then again welcomed the premier event in women's golf in 2004 when Jane Park won. Over the years The Kahkwa Club has also hosted such notable events as the 1958 Women’s Western Open, 1975 Pennsylvania Women’s Amateur, 1997 Pennsylvania Women’s Amateur and 2009 Pennsylvania Women’s Amateur. Carol Semple Thompson impressively won the 1975 and 1997 Pennsylvania Women's Amateur 22 years apart.
