Ten years after his father Jon won the event at Sherwood Forest, Bryson DeChambeau fires 67 on Sunday for a two stroke victory
FRESNO, Calif. (June 26, 2011) -- Bryson DeChambeau shot a final-round 5-under 67 Sunday to capture the Fresno County Amateur Golf Championship at Belmont Country Club by two strokes.
DeChambeau -- whose father Jon won the County Am in 2001 at Sherwood Forest -- wrapped up four championship days of golf at Belmont that included winning a junior tournament.
At the two-day County Am, the incoming senior at Clovis East High and recent Len Ross junior champ chased down first-round leader Jeremy Moreno with birdies on Nos. 2, 5, 6, 7 and 9 before a final, crucial one at 17 -- which, coupled with Moreno's double bogey, created a three-shot swing that vaulted DeChambeau in front.
