A steady week, a two shot cushion, and just enough at the finish. Grace Bowen closed it out at Royal Troon
Grace Bowen (England), a University of Stirling student, put together rounds of 71-69-71 to finish at 5 under 211 and claim a two-shot victory at the Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open Championship.
Bowen opened with 71-69 on the Portland Course before closing with a composed 71 on the Old Course at Royal Troon to secure the title.
Jessica Ross (Ireland) made things interesting late, finishing runner-up at 3 under 213 (70-75-68). Emilie Knai (France) took third at 4 over 220 (73-73-74).
There was a moment of real tension on the final hole. Ross, trailing by three, struck her approach from 140 yards flush into the pin, the ball spinning and circling the cup. An eagle would have suddenly put Bowen under pressure, but it stayed out—allowing Bowen to finish the job without needing extra drama.
It continues a strong run for Bowen. Earlier this year, the maths undergraduate won a Student Tour Series event in Spain, and last season she finished runner-Up at the English Women’s Amateur Championship at Royal Liverpool.
With the win, Bowen joins a notable list of English champions at the event, including Mel Reid, Annabell Dimmock, and Lily May Humphreys.
Beyond the trophy, the victory also earns her an invitation to a LETAS event, with Helen Holm counting toward the European Amateur Order of Merit.
