Foreman last won in 2015 at the NCGA Senior Four-Ball with Casey Boyns, and tied the championship record this week
After a drought that lasted nearly a decade, Brentwood resident Terry Foreman again got to hoist an NCGA trophy.
Foreman, a 67-year-old retired police officer, posted a final round 2-under 70 Tuesday at El Macero Country Club to claim a five-shot victory over runner-up Dennis Dachtler in the 15th NCGA Super Senior Championship.
The win was Foreman's first since the 2015 Senior Four-Ball, which he won with partner Casey Boyns. With the victory, Foreman also joined an elite club of players that have won an NCGA title at each level. Now the winner of seven total NCGA titles, Foreman's wins along with the Senior Four-Ball are three Mid-Amateur Four-Ball crowns, a Public Links title and a Senior Amateur title.
"I'm pretty pumped up about this one," said Foreman, whose two-day total of 5-under 139 tied the championship record set by 2016 champion Chuck Richesin. "It feels great."
Coming off a first-round 69, Foreman opened the front-nine with a 33. On the back nine, he'd make all pars and just one bogey. He'd end up being the lone player to finish under par.
"I drove it well. My distance control, my short game and my putting. Everything was in sync," said Foreman, a member at Lone Tree GC.
Helping Foreman was a lot of recent work with his instructor, Jeff Brehaut, at the San Jose State Golf Facility. Among the things Brehaut has been stressing to Foreman is his transition to his downswing.
It also hasn't hurt that Foreman is now physically healthy. Over the last few years, he endured three knee replacement surgeries. Each of the last two years, he's been able to swing pain-free.
"I've worked very hard the last few years," Foreman said. "Obviously, that hard work is paying its dividends."
Dacthler moved eight spots up the leaderboard into second thanks to a tourney-low second-round 68. Third place went to 2022-23 Super Senior Player of the Year Joey Ferrari following a card-off with Les Mitsuoka after both players came in tied at 146.

The Super Senior Championship was created in 2010 to give golfers 65 and older their own championship. Format is 36 holes of stroke play. Players must have reached their 65th birthday by the start of the tournament and have a numeric handicap index o...
