Marrion ran away with a five shot victory, while Wilson rallied back after a rough opening round to win by one shot
Trey Marrion and Hailee Wilson won the North & South Junior Championships at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club No. 2 in Pinehurst, N.C. Marrion finished at 9-under to win by five shots, and Wilson finished 7-under to win by one shot.
In the first two rounds, the girls played No. 2 for 5,988 yards and No. 6 for 6,123 yards, and the boys played No. 2 for 6,818 yards and No. 7 for 6,942 yards.
Marrion, a native of Chesapeake, Va., recorded rounds of 70-69-66 to get to 9-under and pull away from the field. In the final round on No. 2, Marrion birdied holes No. 1, 5, 6, 7, and 8 to get to 5-under through eight holes and distance himself.
Marrion, an incoming freshman at Illinois, is ranked No. 13 in the Class of 2024 by Golfweek, has posted six top-25 finishes in AJGA events in the last year, highlighted by a runner-up last summer at the UHY Baltimore Junior and a seventh-place finish at the 2022 Jones Cup Junior Invitational.
He finished T14 at the 2022 Eastern Amateur and held the round-one lead at the 2024 Dustin Johnson World Junior Championships.
Bryson Hughes finished in solo second place at 4-under, and Will Gordon finished in solo third place at 1-under. Hamilton Coleman finished in solo fourth place at even-par.
2023 champion Coltrane Mittag finished T5 with Pavel Tsar at 1-over.
In the girl's division, Hallie Wilson took down Zoe Cusack by one shot, finishing 7-under with rounds of 76-66-67. Cusack finished in solo second place at 6-under with rounds of 68-68-74.
Cusack led Wilson by eight shots after the first round, but Wilson fought back during the final 36 holes.
Macie Rasmussen finished in solo third place at even-par, while Alexa Takai and Kanyarak Pongpithanon finished T4 at 3-over to round out the top five.
