The Junior championship was successfully hosted despite the recent wildfires in the area
The Sacramento County Junior Championship at Mather Golf Course was successfully hosted despite the recent wildfires that encroached upon the course just days before. Attendees observed that the fires had come right up to the fencing surrounding the property.
In the Boys 16-18 division, four players were tied at 3 under par (141) after completing their final round, suggesting a playoff might be necessary. However, the Boys 14-15 division still had holes to play. Ultimately, the low scorer from Tuesday, 15-year-old Kees Hoogendyk, emerged as the Low Gross Boys winner with a total score of 5 under par (139).
The excitement continued in the Girls 14-15 division, where Serene Kim finished her final round at 8 under par (136). The suspense lingered until the completion of the Girls 16-18 division. Hannah Stouder also shot 8 under par (136), leading to a playoff. Stouder prevailed on the first playoff hole, securing the Low Gross title with a score of 136.
Additionally, siblings Dylan Hidayat (14) and Danica Hidayat (12) both placed in the championship, highlighting their impressive performances.
