The Prestige: Texas Tech completes wire-to-wire victory

Texas Tech completed the wire-to-wire win at The Prestige at PGA West, the Greg Norman Course, in La Quinta, Calif. Texas Tech won the title by 12 shots and finished at 33-under. Kansas finished in solo second place at 21-under. 

The Red Raiders finished with three golfers in the top six en route to the commanding win. First-round leader Tyran Snyders finished in solo fourth place at 9-under, and 2023 Walker Cupper Calum Scott finished in solo fifth place at 8-under. Matthew Comegys finished T6 at 7-under.

Texas Tech shot rounds of 271-273-275 to continue to run away from the field and close the door on any comeback. 

Stanford finished in solo third place at 17-under, and Washington finished in solo fourth place at 15-under. Kansas State and Duke finished T5 at 12-under to round out the top five. 

In the individual competition, Cecil Belisle of Kansas shot a final round 4-under 67 to complete a two-shot win over Petr Hruby of Washington and Karl Vilips of Stanford, who both finished T2 at 11-under. 

Belisle shot rounds of 67-66-67 to get to 13-under. He started the final round with a bogey on the first hole but recorded five birdies over the next 17 holes to win by five shots. 

The Kansas standout recently won the Folds of Honor Collegiate and is currently ranked No. 123 in the Golfweek/ U.S. Rankings.

Hruby and Vilips both shot 11-under to finish two shots behind Belisle and T2. Snyders, Scott, and Comegys finished in solo fourth and fifth place and T6 to lead Texas Tech. Ethan Evans of Duke and Ryan Abuan of San Diego joined Comegys at 7-under and T6. 

2023 U.S. Junior Amateur Champion Bryan Kim of Duke, Kyle An of UCLA, Louis Pilod of Cal Poly, Nick Mason of Kansas State, and Cooper Schultz of Kansas State all finished T9 at 6-under to round out the top ten.

ABOUT THE The Prestige at PGA West

54 hole men's college tournament played in California's Coachella Valley which features an all- star field of many of major college golf's top teams and players. The Prestige is co-hosted by eight time NCAA Champion Stanford University of the Pac 12 Conference and UC Davis of the Big West Conference.

There is a college/am tournament fund raiser the day before the tournament proper begins which is a great way to see first hand how these players (many of whom will go on to PGA Tour careers) go about their business.
