Abu Dhabi Amateur: Sam Mukherjee registers a dominating win

18-year-old Sam Mukherjee from Scotland secured a commanding victory at the Abu Dhabi Amateur Championship, shooting 7-under 209 with rounds of 73-70-66 to win by five shots.
Thomas Schmidt of Germany carded rounds of 71-70-73 to register a runners-up finish at 2-under par.
Heading into the final round, Mukherjee found himself tied for third place at 1-under par. Meanwhile, Keith Egan of Ireland led the field with a 36-hole score of 4-under 140. Mukherjee delivered a flawless performance in the final round, carding an impressive 66 with three birdies on each nine, ultimately securing the championship title. Mukherjee, a four-time Scotland international and the current UAE junior champion, has notched two victories this season.
Sam Mukherjee and his twin brother Ollie will play collegiately at Duke University.
Mukherjee's victory earned him an invitation to the Saadiyat Beach tournament on the Challenge Tour scheduled in April 2024.
Egan finished third with his rounds of 68-72-76 at even-par 216.
Ollie Mukherjee secured a T4 finish with his total score of 2-over par, sharing the spot with South African Chad Coburn and Spain's Victor Pena Cortes. Ollie's rounds of 71-75-72 were complemented by Coburn's 70-76-72 and Cortes's 71-70-77 in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Cameron Mukherjee, the youngest among the siblings, posted rounds of 69-74-76, concluding the competition in seventh place on the leaderboard with a total of 3-over 219.
The tournament saw the participation of over 86 players from the UAE, Germany, Luxembourg, Ireland, Scotland, England, India, and the USA.
