2022 Augusta National Women's Amateur champion Anna Davis finishes seventh

25-year-old Sofia Garcia of Paraguay, a rookie on the LPGA Tour, finished 14-under 274 following her rounds of 65-70-67-72 to win the women’s individual gold medal at Pan American Games at Prince of Wales Country Club in La Reina, Chile.

Maria J. Uribe of Colombia, the seasoned player on the LPGA Tour and a 2007 U.S. Women’s Amateur winner, scored 10-under 278 following her rounds of 69-73-68-68 to finish as the runners-up for a silver medal in the competition.

Garcia entered the final round leading the pack by an eight-stroke margin at 14-under par with Uribe and Alena Sharp of Canada following her at 6-under par.

Uribe posted the lowest round of the day, 4-under 68, in an attempt to cover the gap between her and Garcia. Nevertheless, she still found herself trailing Garcia by four strokes. Garcia secured victory by posting an even-par round of 72, to complete her wire-to-wire victory to win the gold medal.

The win also marked her second medal of the tournament, following her silver in the mixed event in Peru in 2019.

Alena Sharp, a two-time winner on the Epson Tour, carded rounds of 67-73-68-68 to finish third at 7-under 281 for a silver medal in the competition.

The women’s section saw active participation from top-ranked amateur golfers including 28th-ranked Anna Davis and 53rd-ranked Rachel Heck too.

The 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur winner, Davis, shot 2-over 290 following her rounds of 73-74-68-75 to register a seventh-place finish in the tournament. Meanwhile, Heck, shot 8-over 296 with her rounds of 78-70-71-77 for a 14th place finish in the competition.
