San Clemente Amateur: Trevor McNary secures a comfortable win
Trevor McNary of Whittier, Calif., secured the win at the San Clemente Men's Amateur Golf Championship with his total score of 10-under 134. The tournament took place at the San Clemente Municipal Golf Course in Calif.
McNary recorded rounds of 68-66, comfortably clinching a six-stroke lead over Mark Warman, a two-time tournament champion (2016, 2018) from San Clemente. Meanwhile, Kethan Reddy from San Diego also put on a strong performance, matching the total score of 4-under 140 to finish as joint runner-up alongside Mark Warman.
McNary entered the final round with a one-shot lead over Declan Lane and Andrew Gahan who shot matching 3-under 69’s against McNary’s 4-under 68 in the opening round. McNary later added a 6-under 66 consisting of five birdies and an eagle on hole No. 11, and a bogey on his final hole of the tournament to emerge victorious by a four-shot margin over the field.
The highlight of the tournament was McNary’s 4-under 68, consisting of three consecutive birdies from holes No. 5 through 7 and a birdie, eagle, and birdie run from holes No. 10 through 12, giving him that extra cushion until the end.
In the Senior's Division, Lou Carasso shot even-par 144 with his rounds of 70-74 to win by a mere one-shot margin over Jeff Thomas, who shot 75-70 to finish as the runners-up at 1-over 145.
The tournament saw participation from 21 seniors and 90 in the Championship flight. Notably, senior players faced no cut, while 67 competitors successfully made it through the cut in the Championship flight.

best amateur golfers in Southern
California. There will be 2 divisions, regular and
senior (55 and older). Cut after Saturday
to low 60 for regular and 20 for senior. Entry fee
includes golf, food, drink and tee prize
