A week before a new green jacket is presented outside of Butler's Cabin, one collegian grabs a win just across town

Augusta, Georgia is the center of the golf realm’s attention this week, and righteously so. Just before the world’s top talents take their trip down Magnolia Lane, some collegians teed it up across town at Forest Hills Golf Club. University of Charlotte’s Ben Woodruff made easy work of Forest Hills on Saturday with rounds of 67 and 66 to take a six shot lead over the field heading into Sunday’s final round. The 11-under, 36-hole performance could not be maintained on Sunday for the 49er junior from Huntersville, North Carolina. His final round 73 was going to be a 70 until Woodruff walked onto the par 5 17th. Finding hazards, Woodruff went from having the lead to dropping to a tie for second place at 10 under where he finished. Taking advantage of the dropped shots was University of Furman sophomore Walker Crosby. The Paladin took rounds of 68 and 71 to stay six shots back of Woodruff alongside a few more names on top of the leaderboard. Tied for fourth, Crosby got to work as his round began on the second hole. Two under on the front side, Crosby turned on the birdie machine, netting four birdies before heading back to the first hole for a closing par. Crosby’s 6-under 65 was the lowest of the final round and tied Woodruff’s second round along with three others. With just two bogeys over his final 36-holes, Crosby waltzed his way to the championship in non-turbulent fashion. Georgia Tech’s Will Dickson, South Carolina’s Dan Sheehan, and North Greenville’s Austin Duncan tied Woodruff in second place with a tournament total of 10-under, 206. With the collegians leaving town, Augusta now focuses their attention toward one of the most unique Masters ever. Six amateurs will try to play their way into weekend contention at Augusta National later this week.
