Beckler closes with 66 to win High Plains Amateur

A final-round 5-under 66 propelled Topeka's Andrew Beckler to the winner's circle at the 2019 High Plains Amateur at Dodge City's Mariah Hills Golf Course on Sunday. Beckler, a senior to be on the Washburn University golf team, finished the championship at 6-under 136 for a three-shot victory.

Salina junior golfer Tate Herrenbruck finished second and Goddard's Elliot Soyez took third. Junction City's Andrew King finished in fourth while Jeff Bell, Cole Gritton and Nicklaus Mason all tied for fifth.

In the masters division, Salina's Sean Robertson was victorious while cruising to a five shot win at 8-over par 150. Dodge City's Tyson Clark finished in second place.

In the senior division, KGA veteran John Bailey added to his trophy collection with the division win. Bailey finished the championship at 2-over par 144 total which was two shots clear of Wichita's Tracy Chamberlin.

ABOUT THE High Plains Amateur

Format: 36 Holes of stroke play with Open, Masters and Senior divisions.

Eligibility: Members of the Colorado, Kansas, Sun Country Golf Association who have an officially verified USGA handicap index.
