2 tied for lead at Country Club of N. Carolina Amateur

PINEHURST, N.C. (Dec. 18, 2012) -- Logan Harrell and Ben-Marvin Egel both fired 1-over 73 Tuesday and are tied for the lead after Round 1 at the Country Club of North Carolina Amateur. Harrelly, a golfer at N.C. State, and Egel, from Purdue, are one shot over a group of four tied for third entering the second of three rounds. Robert Register (UNC), Christopher Hickman (East Tennessee State), Ben Fogler (Vanderbilt) and Justin Clement, the 2012 Cardinal Amateur winner, are all tied for third place after shooting 2-over in the first round. The inaugural Country Club of North Carolina Amateur is a 54-hole stroke play event with no cut presented by the Tarheel Golf Foundation. The event is being contested on the CCNC's Dogwood Course, which has hosted many CGA and USGA events. The top 12 finishers of the event will earn a round at nearby Pinehurst No. 2.
