CARLSBAD, Calif. (May 27, 2011) -- We recently asked potential members of the amateurgolf.com Player Staff Program to tell us about recent golf product purchases. As you can imagine with the number of rounds our members play, investing in (and considering the merits of) new "pellets" is very important to them. Here is what a few members had to say about the latest Titleist Pro V1:
"The new Titleist Pro V1 is the golf industry standard in golf balls. The new and improved cover is more durable, while maintaining the Titleist quality feel. The new cover withstands scuffs from wedges that the previous Pro V1 lacked. The New dimple design has a better trajectory and added distance. Overall, the new Pro V1 is well worth the money and continues to be the number one ball in golf."

"I recently tried the new ProV1. The first thing I noticed was the fewer number Of dimples. The new font is block lettered. Typical Titleist quality. Overall the unmistakable putting feel remains, the ball is a bit less susceptible to groove marks, although I recently switched to conforming wedges. Overall compression seems similar, likely between 95 and 100 as measured on ATTI or Majestik. Spin off the driver was low, and feel and distance off the irons Was similar to the previous model. Overall trajectory was slightly lower than last year’s model due to the fewer dimples, but overall the ball stats in the air a little longer, so it is likely reaching apex further downrange. Overall an improvement over the prior generation, mainly due to better durability without a loss of feel, and the same distance or better than before with a better trajectory that limits ballooning. Well done!"

"I recently tried the 2011 model Pro V1 and was surprised that I really could notice a difference in performance from last years model. I thought it was significantly better in the wind and I felt I was 5 to 10 yards longer off the tee. I realize what I am about to say might sound strange, but I thought it felt better off the putter as well."
