Members get complete historical leaderboards for every year of Michigan Players Golf Club Great Lakes Amateur on record — scores, positions, and hometowns going back decades.
The Great Lakes Amateur is an elite 54-hole stroke play championship held annually at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Open to both male and female amateurs, this tournament has quickly established itself as one of the Midwest’s must-play events—offering a tour-caliber test, a world-ranking opportunity, and a competitive atmosphere that draws top collegiate players, seasoned mid-ams, and emerging national and international talent.
Players tee it up for three consecutive rounds of stroke play, with 18 holes each day and a cut after 36 holes to the low 60% and ties, or anyone within 10 shots of the lead. In the event of a tie at the top, a hole-by-hole sudden-death playoff determines the champion. The event is open to competitors with an active USGA Handicap Index of 6.0 or lower for men and 10.0 or lower for women, and it is officially recognized as a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) counting tournament.
Set against the backdrop of a championship-caliber layout at Eagle Crest—known for its firm fairways, strategic bunkering, and fast, undulating greens—the Great Lakes Amateur delivers the kind of pressure, polish, and prestige that defines top-tier amateur golf. Whether you're chasing ranking points, sharpening your game before the season, or testing yourself against a deep, talented field, this event offers the perfect stage to compete and rise.
