OAKMONT, Penn. (June 14, 2011) -- David Brown stumbled to a final-round 77 but managed to hold on for the win at the 111th Western Pennsylvania Golf Association's Amateur Championship.
Brown kicked off the three-day event with a 68 and shot successive 77s to finish out the tournament.
The first-round 68 was enough of a head start to allow Brown to finish one shot better than runner up C. Mercatoris, who nearly pulled off the comeback with a final round 73.
Sean Brennan was alone in third place, finishing with a three-day total of 224.
