Woodruff leads at Calif. Senior Women's Am

The Santa Cruz resident holds a one-stroke over Tucson's Judy Miller after round 1

CORRAL DE TIERRA, Calif. (May 21, 2012) – Sandy Woodruff of Santa Cruz fired off three birdies on her way to a 75 and took the early lead in the three-day California Senior Women’s Amateur held at the Corral de Tierra Country Club. Judy Miller of Tucson, AZ cruised into second place with a 76 and Mitsue Lewis of San Diego coasted into third with a 77 thanks to her skill around the greens. Playing in her first Calif. Senior Amateur, ten-time winner of the San Francisco City, Sally Krueger, opened with an 80. Two-time defending champion Tina Barker of Castro Valley yielded to the fast, firm greens and windy conditions, shooting a disappointing 83. Second round action begins at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday and the final round will take place on Wednesday. Galleries are welcomed.
