Women's Western Amateur: Mika Liu safely into round of 16

By Jack Persons LANCASTER, Penn. (June 24, 2014) -- Stroke play medalist and top seeded Mika Liu earned a 1-up victory on Thursday at the Women's Western Amateur to reach the round of 16. Liu, a 15-year old, defeated Taylor Yoshitake of Cal Poly 1-up at Lancaster Country Club. Second-seeded Allison Cooper fell in the round of 32 to Heather Ciskowski, 5 & 4. The round of 16 begins tomorrow, with Liu facing off against Sirene Blair of Utah. Thursday's results can be viewed below.
