Will Gordon maintains lead at Greystone Invitational

The incoming Vanderbilt freshman from Davidson, N.C. is 10-under through 36 holes and ahead by one

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Incoming Vanderbilt freshman William Gordon followed up a stellar start to the 2015 Greystone Invitational with an unassuming round two, comparatively speaking. After shooting a bogey-free 64 in round one, Gordon posted two-under 70 on day two and leads by one through 36 holes. Gordon, ranked No. 17 in the class of 2015, eagled 18 and birdied 2 to get to his lowest number — 12-under — before bogeying 7 and 9 down the stretch. Still, the Davidson, N.C. native holds a one-stroke lead over Nathan Mallonee heading to Friday. Mallonee, a junior at Georgia State University, went bogey-free during his second round while making four birdies. At nine-under 135, Mallonee holds the runner-up position by five shots over a trio of players at four-under, including Cooper Musselman, Robby Prater, and Forrest Knight. This year's field at Greystone Golf & Country Club represent 22 states in the United States and nine different countries including Australia, Canada, Iceland, Jamaica, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, and South Korea.
