Weaver leads at Alameda Commuters

Michael Weaver moves up the leader board with a 65, taking a four-shot lead into the final round

ALAMEDA, Calif. (April 22, 2012) -- After the cut last Saturday, the field of 45 players continued play again Saturday at the 85th Alameda Commuters. Michael Weaver, a redshirt Junior at Cal, fired a third-round 65 to move from third place after Round 2 to the top of the leader board. Weaver sits at 201 and holds a four-stroke lead over the trio of Jonathan De Los Reyes, defending champion Rick Reinsberg and past champion Darryl Donovan, who all are at 205. Second-round leader Anders Engell, a senior at St. Mary’s College, slipped into a tie for sixth after a third-round 73. Nicolo Galletti moved up into third after posting the low round of the tournament with a 63 today and has a tournament total 206. In the senior division, Mel Collins of Long Beach, CA holds a 4-stroke lead at 136 (68-68) while Jeff Burda of Modesto, CA and Tom O'Grady of Los Altos, CA are tied for second after both carding 144 (70--70.) The fourth and final round begins Sunday at 7:20 a.m. PT.
