Vincent Nadeau, Brandon Grogan win second consecutive Mid Pines Invitational

Tournament field included 58 teams (31 Open Division and 27 Senior Division) from 10 states

Southern Pines, NC (February 12, 2017) -- A field of 118 amateur golfers from 10 states teed off this past weekend in the 18th Annual Mid Pines Invitational Golf Tournament at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.

The tournament featured two divisions (Open & Senior) competing on a signature Donald Ross- designed golf course and annually attracts a strong field of amateur golfers in one of the most prestigious team events to kick off the tournament season.

The Virginia Team of Vincent Nadeau (Zion Crossroads, Va.) and Brandon Grogan (Martinsville, Va.) edged out the North Carolina team of Joe Jaspers (Huntersville, N.C.) and Jim Autry (Concord, N.C.) in a playoff to win the Open Division. Both teams completed the tournament with a two-round score of 137, 7-under-par. Nadeau and Grogan are the fourth team to win consecutive titles in Mid Pines Invitational history. The team of Chris Cassetta (Kernersville, N.C.) and Daniel Neveau (Pinehurst, N.C.) rounded out the top three with a 5-under-par score of 139.

In the Senior Division, Sherrill Britt (West End, N.C.) and Lee Forbis (Pinehurst, N.C.) won first place, finishing with 12-under-par score of 132. Last year’s champions, Dean Channell and Tuck Burkinshaw, both from Cary, N.C., finished in second with a 9-under-par score of 135. Dick Hogan (Burlington, N.C.) and Keith Waters (Raleigh, N.C.) tied with Duff Wagner (Taylors, S.C.) and Bobby Hines (Greer, S.C.) for third place with a score of 137.

The 19th Annual Mid Pines Invitational is scheduled for February 9-11, 2018.
