Villanova and Zerfass Sweep the Big Five Championship

Villanova edged Drexel to win the 2025 Big Five Championship at The 1912 Club.

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. (Nov. 6, 2025)Villanova capped its fall season in style by winning the Big Five Championship at The 1912 Club, edging Drexel by a single stroke in a one-round shootout among Philadelphia’s Division I programs.

Wildcat standout Matt Zerfass led the way individually with a one-under 71, the only score in red figures, to claim medalist honors. The steady junior paced Villanova’s balanced lineup that also included Vibhav Alokam (+3), Ryan Pamer (+5), and Brockton English (+6).

Drexel’s Thomas Young finished runner-up at even par, while a crowded group at +2 featured Jake Naese (Temple), Noah Moelter (Saint Joseph’s), Jacob Haberstumpf (Drexel), and Payton Hawke (La Salle).

With cool November conditions and firm greens, scoring proved challenging across the field, but Villanova’s consistency sealed a narrow victory and its second Big Five team title in the past three seasons.

The Big Five Championship unites Villanova, Drexel, Temple, La Salle, Saint Joseph’s, and Penn each fall for local bragging rights and a celebration of Philadelphia college golf tradition.
