UCLA commit Cole Ponich, Morgan Goldstein win FCG Las Vegas Titles

During his final round, Ponich birdied the 13th, 15th and 16th holes while Goldstein was propelled to the title with a 7-under 28 back nine on Saturday

PRIMM, NV (April 16, 2017) - Rounds of 66-69 and a 9-under finish have propelled Cole Ponich to the title at the Future Champions Golf Las Vegas Championship. Ponich, a 2019 UCLA commit, was even-par through nine holes at Primm Valley Golf Club on Sunday before putting together a bogey-free 3-under back nine to take home the title. During his back nine run, Ponich birdied the 13th, 15th and 16th holes. Austin Carnese at 8-under finished second and had a chance to tie with a birdie on the par-5 last only to par the hole. Carnese charged hard on the back nine with an eagle on the par-5 13th and 16th, 17th hole birdies. Michael Sun was third at 6-under while Canon Olkowski and Trevor Olkowski shared fourth at 5-under. In the Girl's Division the title went to Morgan Goldstein who finished 10-under and three shots ahead following 65-67 tallies. Over the course of two rounds the best stretch of golf for Goldstein came on Saturday when she played the back nine in a sparking 7-under 28. The side included five birdies and eagle on the closing hole. Annick Haczkiewicz was second at 7-under, Hunter Pate; Yoonju Shin shared third at even-par and Sydney Smith; Alyson Bean tied for fifth at 1-over.
