U.S. Women's Am winner Schubert wins the Betsy Rawls

Host Texas cruised to a 15-stroke victory at The University of Texas Golf Club

AUSTIN, TX (October 10, 2017) - U.S. Women's Amateur champion Sophia Schubert was one of two players under-par on Tuesday as she won the individual title at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invite. Schubert, 6-under overall, won the title by four shots at The University of Texas Golf Club and helped lead Texas to a win at their own event. The win for the senior was her second medalist victory since joining the Longhorns prior to her sophomore season as a transfer from Auburn and her third collegiate win overall. During the final round Schubert was 3-over after eight holes before turning things around with birdies on four of the next five holes. Texas as a team cruised to the win with a 2-over finish, 15-strokes in front of runner-up Furman (+17), defending NCAA champion Arizona State (+18) took third, Houston (+26) ended up fourth while in fifth it was UNLV (+35). Behind Schubert for Texas came three additional top-20 performers; Emilee Hoffman (2nd; -2), Kaitlyn Papp (T16; +5) and Greta Volker (T18; +6). Outside of the Texas duo at the top the individual standings the top-five was rounded out by Haylee Harford (Furman) at 1-under in third, Natalie Srinivasan (Furman) was level-par in fourth and Leonie Harm of Houston took fifth at 1-over.
