U.S. Senior Open final round suspended until Monday

Chip Lutz is now scheduled to begin his final round at 8:01 a.m. EST

COLUMBUS, OH (August 14, 2016) -- Chip Lutz never stepped on the course Sunday at the U.S. Senior Open. Heavy rains swept through Scioto Country Club forcing final round play to be suspended until Monday. Lutz is currently tied for 42nd at 10-over and will now begin his fourth round at 8:01 a.m. EST. ROUND THREE RECAP Chip Lutz played well on Saturday as the only amateur remaining in the field at the U.S. Senior Open. Lutz, from Reading, PA teed off on the 10th hole and shot a third round 4-over 74. After three days of play at Scioto Country Club Lutz is 10-over. On his first nine Lutz bogeyed two holes, the 15th and 18th to turn in 2-over 37. With nine holes remaining and Lutz still looking for his first birdie he got one to fall on the 6th hole, his 15th of the day. Lutz also bogeyed two holes on the side to shoot a second consecutive 2-over 37. During the third round Lutz played alongside Bart Bryant and Mark Calcavecchia. The week began with 23 amateurs in the field but thanks in large part to a second round 1-under 69 Lutz, the reigning U.S. Senior Amateur champion was able to make it through to the weekend. Lutz will start his final round on the 10th hole at 11:16 a.m. EST and play with Jimmy Carter and Bobby Gage.
