In the Open Division, the side of Dunlap and Poletiek earned medalist honors for the second year in a row. They fired a sizzling 9-under par 63 on Saturday, tying the side of Alex Harding and Travis Johnsen (Portland/Wilsonville, Ore.) after 18-holes. The two teams went into a playoff, and Poletiek sank a 20-foot birdie putt to earn his side the No. 1 seed in match play.
The top three sides in the Open Division earn a first-round bye in the round of 32. Alongside Dunlap/Poletiek and Harding/Johnsen, Calum Hill and Trevor Yu (Corvallis, Ore.) earned the No. 3 seed in match play. The two Oregon State golfers shot an 8-under par 64 to receive the final bye in the first round.
Defending champions Trevor Harding and Brent McKee (Portland, Ore.) shot 67 (-5) and are the No. 9 seed going into match play.
The Women’s field was led by the team of Downs and Anderson, who fired a 4-under par 68 to win medalist honors by two shots. The pair earned a bye in the first round and the No. 1 seed as match play begins tomorrow.
Three sides tied for second place: defending champions Amanda Jacobs and Gretchen Johnson (Portland, Ore.), Debbie Friede and Katy Wright (Washougal/Camas, Wash.), and Leilani Norman and Ginny Burkey (Eugene, Ore.). All three of the teams shot 2-under par 70.
In the Senior Men’s Division, the Jennings/Harding side earned medalist honors and the No. 1 seed after firing a 5-under par 67. A total of seven senior men’s teams shot in the 60’s on Saturday – not including defending champions Stein Swenson and Carey Watson (Bend, Ore.). The pair shot a 2-under par 70 during stroke play qualifying.
