NEW LONDON, NH (September 30, 2016) -- Jim Cilley and James Pleat will both carry a piece of the lead into the final round of the New Hampshire Mid-Amateur at Lake Sunapee Country Club. The duo is 1-over and they hold a one shot advantage over Nick MacDonald.
Cilley carded a 72 on Thursday before bouncing back with a 1-under 69 Friday. For much of the day Cilley didn't have much going and through 14 holes he was 4-over for the tournament. However, in a flash Cilley rolled in three consecutive birdies from Nos. 15-17 to move to the top of the leaderboard.
Like his co-leader Pleat has carded rounds of 72-69. For Pleat it was a three birdie, two bogey day with the circles coming on the 5th, 6th and 17th holes.
MacDonald reached second place and 2-over with rounds of 72-70. Will McLaughlin is 5-over in fourth while Brett Wilson and first round leader Harvin Groft are fifth at 6-over.
Following the completion of the second round, the field was cut to the top-27 and ties for Saturday's final round.
