Harding and McKee, the defending champions, won their second-consecutive Open Division title. Downs and Anderson earned the Women’s Championship, and Patton and Schneider won the Senior Men’s Division.
In the Open Division, Harding and McKee earned a hard-fought win in the morning semifinal match against Jason Wood and Travis Paul (Portland, Ore.). The team’s birdie on the 18th hole solidified a 2-up victory and a meeting in the final match against locals Ryan DeCastilhos and Clare Langford (Bend, Ore.).
In the Championship match, DeCastilhos and Langford got the early 1-up lead after a birdie on the par-5 third hole. However, the defending champions quickly gathered themselves and made the turn at 2-up after another birdie on the ninth hole. DeCastilhos and Langford tried to gather momentum on the back nine, but the lead never shrunk past 2-up. Harding and McKee would end up winning their second title with a 3&2 win.
The Women’s Division final match featured Downs and Anderson against defending champions Amanda Jacobs and Gretchen Johnson (Portland, Ore.). It was an up-and-down match, with the defending champions taking an early 2-up lead after seven holes. Downs and Anderson made the turn at all square after winning Nos. 8 and 9, and quickly took a 1-up lead after a birdie on the par-5 10th. The two extended their lead to 2-up with a birdie on the 14th hole, and hung on for a 1-up victory, halving the last hole with a par.
The Senior Men’s final match included two new teams in this year’s championship. The side of Patton and Schneider faced off against Scott Hval and Randy Mahar (Portland, Ore.), who earlier on Tuesday had advanced to the finals by winning their semifinal match in 23 holes.
Patton and Schneider earned an early 3-up lead after three holes, quickly extending their lead to 4-up after six. Hval and Mahar won the sixth hole to pull one back, but it was the only hole they would end up winning in Tuesday’s championship match. Patton and Schneider would end up winning the title, 5&4.
