CAPE GIRARDEUA, MO (July 12, 2016) -- Wednesday is going to be a long, grueling day of golf but Travis Mays has a leg up on the competition. Mays, 5-under, presently leads the Missouri Stroke Play at the midway point and now he will be tasked with holding onto his lead during a 36-hole final day.
Playing at Dalhousie Golf Club, Mays has combined rounds of 70-69 to open up a two-stroke lead. Mays, a senior at Central Missouri, birdied four and bogeyed two during Monday's first round. The Honorable Mention Division II PING All-American continued his strong play on Tuesday as May birdied three of the first six holes to reach 5-under.
He then birdied one and bogeyed one throughout the rest of his round.
Brevin Giebler and Skip Berkmeyer both share second place with 3-under 36-hole scores. The only other player in red figures is Mitchell Mather (Missouri State) at 1-under and in fourth place.
Tee times for the third round will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the final round set to begin upon the completion of the the round.
