Top ranked Senior Lutz wins North & South at Pinehurst

In a turnaround from the British Senior two weeks ago, Chip Lutz of Pennsylvania edges Paul Simson by 2 strokes and extends his lead in the AGC Senior Player of the Year points race

PINEHURST, N.C. (Aug. 26, 2010) -- Talk about loving turning 55.

Chip Lutz, who turned 55 in January, has extended his lead over Ron Carter of Indiana in the amateurgolf.com Men's Senior Player-of-the-Year points race for 2011 by 1400 points with a victory at the North & South Senior Amateur at Pinehurst.

The North & South was a turnaround of sorts for Lutz, who, at 8-under for 54-holes was two strokes better than defending champion Paul Simson of North Carolina. Two weeks ago, Simson defeated Lutz at the British Senior Amateur, picking up his third title in the prestigious event.

It was also Lutz's incredible 5th victory of the year; his other wins include the Lupton Invitational and the Golfweek Senior Invitational where the resident of Reading, PA kicked off his 55-and-over golf party in January.
