Tolly takes lead at Trans-Miss Senior

Rich Tolly has a two-stroke lead over Chris Maletis while Wes Mohr leads the Super Sr. Division

TUCSON, Arizona (May 21, 2013) - Rich Tolly of Laguna Hills, Calif. leads the 14th Trans-Miss Senior Championship after an opening round 2-under par 70. Tolly has a two-stroke lead over Chris Maletis of Portland, Ore. Wes Mohr of Houston, Texas leads the Super Senior division at even-par 72 while Tom Brown of La Jolla, Calif. leads the Legends division. Conducted by the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association, the Senior Championship features a field of 78 of the top senior players from 14 states. The par-72 North Course at The Gallery GC is playing 6,557 yards for the Senior division and 6,073 yards for the Super Senior and Legends divisions. Tolly recorded four birdies and two bogeys in calm conditions. Despite ideal scoring conditions, Tolly had the only under-par round of the day. Following Maletis at even-par 70 are Corky Nelson of Dallas, Texas, Gary Hardin of Fort Worth, Texas and Cyrus Whitney of Oro Valley, Ariz. at 1-over par 73. The second round of this 54-hole championship will begin at 8:00 AM Wednesday with players going off Nos. 1 and 10 tees.
