Todd, Ferrell Win South Carolina Players 4-Ball in Playoff

Walter Todd, Jr. and Garland Ferrell needed three extra holes to close it out at Columbia Country Club

BLYTHEWOOD, SC (September 24, 2017) - After shooting a final round score of 64 and a two-day total of 130, Walt Todd, Jr and Garland Ferrell needed a three-hole playoff to defeat Stan Sill and Josh McMillan in the SCGA Players Four Ball Championship played at Columbia Country Club. Todd (Laurens) and Ferrell (Greenville) carded six birdies and an eagle in their final round to finish in a tie with Sill (Spartanburg) and McMillan (Boiling Springs) who shot the low round of the tournament, 63. With the two teams both making birdie on the first hole playoff and trading pars on the second hole, a Walt Todd par on the third playoff hole proved to be enough to take the Championship crystal home. Defending Champions, Thomas Todd and Matt Wiggins finished in third place at 132. In the First Flight with a second-round score of 65 and a two-day total of 136, John Asay and Alan Frederick took top honors. Kevin Hester and Dan Sullivan finished on top in the Second Flight with a final score of 142. The 2017 SCGA Players Four Ball Championship was played on the par 72 – 6,855 yard Columbia Country Club course in Blythewood, SC. The field consisted of 49 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty-six holes. The Players Four Ball Championship is one of 21 Major Championships conducted annually by the South Carolina Golf Association.
