LUDDENHAM, Australia (November 19, 2017) - Professional Jason Scrivener may have run away with the title at PGA Australia's NSW Open but the amateurs in the field showed very will with three finishing inside the top-10. The amateur contingent, which included 33 golfers, was led by Blake Windred and Chris Crabtree, both of whom finished 14-under and tied for fourth at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club.
Windred combined rounds of 70-66-73-65 to record his top-five finish. During his final round 7-under 65 Windred birdied six-times, eagled once and bogeyed just once. Windred played his best golf from Nos. 9-15 playing the stretch in 6-under. The run was sparked by an eagle on the par-5 9th.
Chris Crabtree tallied scores of 71-68-67-68 and saved some his best golf for the final day. Looking to solidify a high finish Crabtree played his final round in a bogey-free 4-under 68 that included two birdies on each side.
The final amateur in the top-10 was 2016 U.S. Junior Amateur winner Min Woo Lee. In second place after a first round 7-under 65, Lee put together rounds of 65-70-69-71 to finish 13-under and tied for sixth. During his stellar first round Lee birdied 10 times while bogeying three-times. The round started with a bogey on No. 1 before Lee found his grove with three birdies in a row from Nos. 3-5.
