Deaton of Jackson upset defending champion

16 at the Tennessee Women’s Amateur
Championship. Deaton kept it steady all day
taking advantage of every opportunity. She
finished strong and ended the match 5 & 3.
Tomorrow she will face local youngster Allison
Woodward of Johnson City at 8:00 a.m.
Two seed and stroke play medalist
Kendall Martindale (Jefferson City) continues
her strong play; she will face junior Samantha
Gotcher of Clarksville tomorrow.
