Tennessee Open: Fox edges Amateur Brandon Rodgers

2012 U.S. Amateur Champion Steven Fox (now a pro) edges amateur Brandon Rodgers by a shot

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 23, 2014) -- 2012 US Amateur champion and 2013 Tennessee State Amateur winner Steven Fox won his first professional event in his home state today. Fox's final round 5-under 66 allowed him to pass 36-hole leaders and capture the 2014 SunTrust State Open Championship at Belle Meade Country Club in Nashville. Fox started the day four shots behind 2013 Runner-Up Jason Millard, but got off to a hot start with a birdie at the par-5 first hole and followed it up with birdies at the 3rd and 6th to shoot 3-under par 32 on the opening nine. Two more birdies on the back made for a clean scorecard and a 70-73-66-209 finish. Brandon Rodgers, a University of Tennessee Alum, was the runner-up and low amateur at 3-under par 210. Jason Millard finished T3 at 2-under par 211 while 2013 champion and PGA Tour player Garrett Willis finished T6 at even-par.
