Tennessee Mid-Am: Todd Burgan up one entering final round

The 2011 and 2012 champion will be looking for his third title in five years Friday afternoon at Ridgeway Country Club

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Todd Burgan, a two-time Tennessee Mid-Amateur champion, will have a shot on Friday at Ridgeway Country Club for his third title in five years. He leads Ryan DuLaney by a stroke entering the third and final round after sharing the 18-hole lead with Corey Rochelle of Lawrenceburg. After an opening round of 5-under par 66, Burgan was tied with Rochelle who is fresh off of his 2015 Tennessee Four-Ball title, which he won with partner Cole Floyd. Rochelle went bogey-free on day one, but began his second round with consecutive setbacks. A 1-over 72 has him two back of the lead and in third place. DuLaney matched the 66 of Burgan and Rochelle during his second round, using an eagle and two birdies in his first four holes to jump start his day. After a double-bogey at 8 and a bogey at 12, the Memphis resident birdied 15 through 17 to post 137 and join Burgan and Rochelle in the final group. Thirty-seven players made the 36-hole cut, which came at 11-over par.
