Headlining the amateurs in the field this week are four of the top-six players in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings: No. 1 Leona Maguire, No. 2 Hye-Jin Choi, No. 3 Jennifer Kupcho and No. 6 Eun Jeong Seong.
Maguire, a senior at Duke, will be playing in her second consecutive U.S. Women's Open and her fifth career major. Her best finish in a major came last year when she tied for 25th at the Women's British Open. This past year with the Blue Devils Maguire, from Ireland, won two Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Rankings titles, the ACC Championship and LSU Tiger Golf Classic.
Hye-Jin Choi, a native of South Korea, has put together an impressive 2017 thus far with wins coming at the Australian Women's Amateur and Queen Sirikit Cup. Choi has also played impressively on the professional level, sharing seventh at the LPGA Tour - Australian Women's Open.
Kupcho is coming off a strong sophomore season at Wake Forest that saw her win the NCAA Women's South Regional and finish in the runner-up position in both the NCAA Women's Championship and ACC Women's Championship.
Seong, from South Korea, enters play as the reigning U.S. Girls' Junior Amateur and U.S. Women's Amateur champion.
