Tashi Tsering wins Nepal Open Amateur in Playoff

Both Tashi Tsering and Sukra Bahadur Rai finished regulation tied at 3-over

KATHMANDU, Nepal (March 24, 2017) -- Both Tashi Tsering and Sukra Bahadur Rai finished regulation tied at 3-over meaning that the 2017 edition of the Nepal Open Amateur was heading to a playoff. On the first playoff hole at Gokarna Golf Club, Tsering ensured that the playoff wouldn't take to long. Playing a par-3, Tsering knocked his tee shot to seven-feet and after Rai missed a chip from off the green, Tsering drilled the birdie putt to hoist the trophy. As a result, Rai who missed an eight-foot birdie putt on the final hole of regulation, had to settle for a second place finish. Wanchen Dhondup ended up third and one shot out of the playoff, Tanka Bahadur Karki used the round of the tournament to finish fourth at 7-over and 36-hole leader Shiva Kumar was fifth at 9-over. -The Kathmandu Post contributed to this story
