36-hole leader Steve Sharpe of Greensboro, NC posts 77, holds off a challenge from Wayne Rogers of South Carolina, who posted a final round 70

GREENVILLE, South Carolina (May 30, 2014) -- At the Greenville Country Club, Steve Sharpe of Greensboro, North Carolina walked away holding the trophy of the fast rising Chanticleer National Invitational. But it wasn't easy. Sharpe led the tournament at the 36-hole point by three shots, after rounds of 69-73. His final round of 77 opened the door for his chasers, but when Rick Cloninger, who was in second, failed to make a charge (final round 77) it was up to Wayne Rogers of Easley, SC who fired 70 to post 220 in the clubhouse. Sharpe closed the deal, Rogers wound up in second, and Mike Weiner of Kiawah Island, SC (with the most consistent scores of the tournament - 73-74-74) took third place.
