Jim Liu, the 2010 U.S. Junior Champion shoots 67 today, vaulting past first round leader A.J. Crouch, now holds a four stroke lead

ELKTON, Florida (Oct. 15, 2011) – Jim Liu, of Smithtown, NY, holds a four stroke lead after 36 holes at the St. Augustine Amateur at St. Johns Golf Club. Liu, a high school junior, came into Saturday’s round one stroke behind leader A.J. Crouch of Jacksonville, but separated himself from the rest of the field by shooting 67, pushing his total to four-under 136. Liu’s round included 4 birdies in his final 16 holes after bogeying the par 5 second hole. A.J. Crouch of Jacksonville, FL finished his second round at 2-over par shooting 72, giving him an even par total of 140, and sole possession of 2nd place. Crouch, a senior at The Bolles School, recorded 3 birdies, with nines of 35-37. Motin Yeung of Orlando Florida, fired the low round of the day, shooting a 66, which included 6 birdies and a 32 on the back 9. Jacob Davidson of Jacksonville, Fl shot a 2- under-par 68 and currently sits tied for 3rd place with Marcus Plunkett of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl who shot 69. Both Davidson and Plunkett currently sit at one over par 141 for the tournament. Cyril Suk of Bradenton, Florida, Motin Yeung, and Spencer Cole of Greenville, SC are currently tied for fifth at 2-over par 142. To conclude the day Jack Maguire from St. Petersburg won the long drive contest sponsored by Trendler USA and Titleist following completion of today’s play. His 298 yard drive into the wind bettered Joseph Harrison, Las Vegas, NV (295), and Adam Novakowski Grande Prairie, AB (291).
