Sr. Hall of Fame: Simson, Cloninger lead

Paul Simson and Rick Cloninger are tied for the lead entering Friday's final round

HIGH POINT, N.C. (June 20, 2013) -- Defending champion Paul Simson of Raleigh, NC shot a second-round 71 and now sits in a first-place tie at the 2013 National Senior Hall of Fame at Willow Creek Course at High Point Country Club. Simson, who also won in 2010, shot a fist-round 69 and trailed Ron Carter by two shots. Carter shots 76 in the second round and slipped into third place. Rick Cloninger capitalized on Carter's struggles, firing a second straight 70 to knot things up with Simson atop the leaderboard. Paul Schlachter of Pittsburgh shot a Thursday 74 to move into fourth place. The National Senior Hall of Fame is a 54-hole invitational started in honor of Dale Morey (a member at Willow Creek). The event typically draws one of the strongest senior fields of the year. In the Super Senior Division, Larry Boswell leads by one shot over Don Marsh. Boswell shot 71-74 over the event's first two days while Marsh shot 71 on Thursday to strike back. Bill Engel and Rick Luzar are within three shots of the leader, tied for third place.
