LAS VEGAS, Nev. (June 10, 2014) -- Frank Acker hung on to top the talented Cy Whitney and win the 2014 Southern Nevada Senior title.
Acker, who led after shooting a red-hot 66 in Round 1, managed to hold off Whitney with a final-round 75. It was just enough to edge the experienced Whitney, who carded rounds of 72-71 to take solo second place.
Whitney shot 32 on the front nine on day 2 to make it a tournament, but made 3 bogies coming in to settle with a even par 71. Acker struggled on day 2, failing to make a birdie after making 6 of them in round 1.
In the Super Senior Division, Frank Abbott shot 72-71 to win by five shots after leading overnight.
