Tallent leads a loaded field after firing a first-round 69.
At 71 and in second place are Bill Zylstra and Bob Stephens.
Doug POol, Richard Pfield and Tom Hyland are three shots back at 72 while Chip Lutz and Jerry McMullen are within striking distance, sitting four back entering Round 2.
