FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 24, 2007)-- Charles McClaskey of Elkton, Md., has made it two straight victories in the John Owens Super Seniors division of the Society of Seniors Championship.
Despite closing with a 4-over-par 76 on the Long Mean course at Fiddlesticks Country Club, McClaskey matched par 216 for 54 holes and won by two strokes in the flight for Society members 65 years and older. He opened with 73-67.
Bill Ploeger of Columbus, Ga., and Brodie Baker of Bermuda Run, N.C., tied for second at 218 on final round scores of 73 and 76. Ploeger won the S-of-S Championship in 2000.
A year ago, McClaskey scored 212 on rounds of 75-67-70 at Quail Ridge Country Club in Boynton Beach, Fla., winning by four.
In the Dale Morey flight for members 55 to 64 years, Jay Blumenfeld of Parsippany, N.J., regained the lead with his second 69 on the adjacent Wee Friendly course. He’s at 213 and leads by three heading into the final round Thursday on the Long Mean. He shot 75 at Long Mean on Tuesday.
