Simmerman goes 21 holes to beat Baugh at San Antonio Mid-Am Match Play

Danny Simmerman outlasted Bobby Baugh in three extra holes to take home the San Antonio Mid-Amateur Match Play title

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Danny Simmerman, the 13-seed at the San Antonio Mid-Amateur Match Play, had a fantastic run, including knocking off the No. 1 seed Gene Williams in the semis to advance to the finals, where he needed 21 holes with Bobby Baugh to be crowned champion. Simmerman defeated Williams 3-and-2 in the semifinals while Baugh advanced to the final match with a 2-up win over Luke Healy. In the Senior bracket, three-seed Bob Hullender took down No. 1 seed Harry Ramirez in the finals to grab the title.
