Semifinals set at San Francisco City Senior

Defending champ Jim Williams, former winner Gary Vanier, Ken Noonan and Bob Rowland stay alive

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (March 1, 2013) -- Higher seeds won three of the four quarterfinal matches played Thursday at the 2013 San Francisco City Senior Championship at Harding Park. Top seed and defending champion Jim Williams continued his stellar play with a win over No. 24 Mark Miller in 20 holes. Gary Vanier, who earned the No. 2 seed in match play after medaling during the stroke play qualifier, was a big winner over No. 26 Mike Wiechers. The former champion at this event cruised 7-and-5. Ken Noonan, seeded 11th, was a 1-up winner over Robert Goodwin, No. 19. Bob Rowland, the No. 5 seed, was declared winner over No. 4 Herb Jensen. In Saturday's semifinals, Williams will face Rowland while, on the other side of the bracket, Vanier and Ken Noonan will play for the chance to compete in Sunday's championship match.
