Originally scheduled as a three day event, strong bands of rain and lightning consumed the majority of the second round forcing the continuation of the second round on Wednesday to ultimately be the final round.
Weston, who began his second round with a three shot lead over Stan Sill (Spartanburg) and Walter Todd (Laurens), continued his dominant play opening with four birdies on the first five holes. His lone mistake of the day was a double bogey on the 140-yard par three 7th hole but quickly followed up the mistake with a birdie on the eighth hole to make the turn in three under par for the round. The culmination of three additional birdies on the back nine led to a convincing final round score of 6 under par 66 for a two day total of 130.
Finishing in a tie for second place was Greenville’s Tobin Turner and the 2017 SCGA Lefthanders Champion, Stan Sill (Spartanburg). Both players finished with tournament totals of 5 under par 139. Leaderboard mainstays, Eddie Hargett (Blythewood) and Walter Todd (Laurens) finished in a tie for fourth with tournament totals of 3 under par 141.
